After more than two years and 10,000+ downloads of 50 Shades of Hospitality Podcasts, your producers and hosts, Egidio Marcato and Crystal Forest Cavin discuss their motivation and passion for creating a global hospitality podcast.  

In this podcast Egidio and Crystal are pleased to announce their future collaboration with Mauricio Schuler and his company, Schulering HUB.  

Schulering HUB, is all about passion for the hospitality industry, education, life-long learning and using strong networks to share information and inspire.  Their mission statement says it all: “To innovate and elevate the hospitality work and learning experience, making it more personalized, flexible, and transparent.”

50 Shades of Hospitality is dedicated to learning from industry players around the world. The podcasts are a series of interviews with international hospitality and tourism industry professionals. Guests are prompted to share their personal experiences, as well as analyse the current trends, technology and innovations.

 The goal of 50 Shades of Hospitality is to inspire people in the field and to encourage young people to join this exciting industry. We are committed to evaluating the current educational and training opportunities for industry professionals in the hopes of finding solutions to the challenges the industry is now facing. 

  

Egidio Marcato is from the Veneto region of Italy, has had a prestigious career in hospitality and hospitality education. Egidio studied hotel management in Abano Terme and received a Master in Business Administration from Endicott College in the US.
 
He has worked for over four decades to promote the profession of hotel receptionist and co-founded the Swiss AICR competition for best receptionist known as the Bucherer Trophy.  In 2015 he was appointed president of the jury for the David Campbell Trophy (world’s best receptionist award).
 
In recognition of his vast experience and expertise, SwissSkills appointed him Swiss expert/coach at WorldSkills and EuroSkills for the profession of hotel receptionist. In 2020, he founded his own company, the Swiss Hospitality Guild, a training centre for those wishing to excel in the art of hospitality.

 

Crystal Forest Cavin is a native of California and began working in the hospitality and tourism industries in 1973 in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from San Francisco State University and a Master’s degree in Education and Educational Technology from the University of San Francisco.

 Since 1986 she has taught English and Geopolitics at several prestigious schools in Switzerland, including the Swiss Polytechnic University (EPFL), Glion Hospitality Management School (GIHE) and the Geneva Hotel School (Ecole Hôtelière de Genève).

In 2021, Crystal began coaching candidates for SwissSkills, EuroSkills and WorldSkills. She is also a judge for the SwissSkills Hotel Reception competition in Bern.
