In this podcast, Krisztina Soreg, PhD talks about her educational path as an Economist and her career choice to become a professor at Les Roches Hospitality Management School in Marbella, Spain.  She answers our questions about the role of education in shaping the current hospitality field and the importance of disruptions and challenges to the status quo.  Krisztina describes why innovative approaches to education are vital and putting students in the centre of pedagogy is a no-brainer.

 

We also discuss entrepreneurship and start-ups, something that young graduates are often passionate and curious about.  But Krisztina is clear on this – not everyone is capable or has the adequate skills to move in this direction.  That is why Krisztina encourages young people to explore and discover all the different career paths available on the vast hospitality horizon.  Hospitality trends and innovations are moving constantly and Krisztina encourages her students to stay informed and imagine what the future of hospitality will look like.  Finally, we speak about finding the right balance between one’s personal and work life and the challenges that women face in the academic world today

 

Dr. Krisztina Soreg is a professor, economist and business analyst, holding a Ph.D. degree in Economics and Management Sciences from the University of Sopron, Hungary, as well as a graduate degree from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics with 9+ years of teaching experience. Since March 2022, she has been an integral part of Les Roches Marbella, where she delivers courses as Associate Professor on various subjects in Data Analytics, Economics and Entrepreneurship to undergraduate and postgraduate students, while also overseeing dissertation projects across a spectrum of topics.

 

Dr. Soreg's expertise extends to her role as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of Development Economics with 30+ published articles. With a rich academic background, she has contributed her knowledge and insights to numerous public and private universities, including the University of Malaga, University of Milton Friedman in Hungary, and the American College in Spain.

 

As part of the SPARK Innovation Sphere, Krisztina operates as a startup mentor supporting and coaching those eager to develop innovative and disruptive business ideas for the hospitality industry and beyond.

 

Presently, she holds a full-time faculty position at Les Roches Marbella and the General Education Pathway Coordinator role. Besides, Dr. Soreg is Visiting Professor at the Les Roches Crans-Montana campus in Switzerland, exemplifying her dedication to education and research within the global academic community.
